Upgrading to the N1 Light Engine: Same Lamp, Better Performance

The N1 Light Engine is an upgrade for NEOZ lamps currently fitted with earlier light modules, including UNO and V4. Rather than replacing the lamp, it renews the internal light module, leaving the existing body, diffuser and charging system in place.

For most venues operating NEOZ lamps, this means the foundation for better performance is already there.

 

Modular by Design


NEOZ lamps are engineered around a modular principle: key components can be accessed, serviced and upgraded over time. The N1 Light Engine extends that thinking into the light module itself, bringing current performance into compatible lamp bodies without requiring full product replacement.

That compatibility is not incidental. It reflects a product system designed to evolve alongside its users, rather than one that expects them to keep pace with a replacement cycle.

What the N1 Delivers


The N1 Light Engine delivers 10% brighter output and 35% longer runtime at maximum brightness, using Japanese-made lithium-ion battery cells throughout.

For venues operating lamps with UNO or V4 light engines, those figures translate directly into service. Longer runtime reduces mid-service charging interventions. Brighter output helps the lamp hold its presence in ambient environments without altering colour temperature or the character of the light.

The upgrade also enables compatible lamps to work with the NEOZ Cordless Lamp Lock, expanding operational control across portable lighting fleets. For selected diffuser models, the N1 additionally improves resistance to water ingress, adding resilience in demanding service environments.

 

What Stays the Same


Existing charging bases, trays and protocols remain unchanged after the upgrade. Staff do not need to relearn the system. Operators do not need to reconsider infrastructure already in place.

The upgrade can be completed on-site, in stages, without specialist tools. For a restaurant, hotel or events venue managing a large lamp fleet, that makes the process practical. Lamps can be upgraded progressively, without taking the full system out of service.

Preserving Value Over Time


When a lamp is upgraded rather than replaced, most of the original product stays in use. The aluminium body, diffuser, charging infrastructure and accumulated capital investment are all preserved. Only the internal light module changes.

The economic case follows directly. Upgrading the light engine costs a fraction of full replacement, while delivering a meaningful performance improvement. The sustainability case is the same argument viewed from a different angle: less material discarded, more value retained, and a product that was designed from the start with this kind of longevity in mind.

The design intent of the original specification is also preserved. The diffuser, silhouette and finish remain unchanged, so the lamp continues to sit naturally within the interior it was chosen for.

 

Renewal, Not Replacement


Many product categories are built around replacement. A newer model arrives, and the previous generation is expected to step aside. The N1 Light Engine follows a different logic, one that treats the existing lamp as something with value still to give and uses engineering to extend that value into the next stage of service.

For the vast majority of NEOZ lamps, progress does not begin with replacement. It begins with what is already in the room.
