The Corner Light is a limited-edition cordless table lamp, designed by London architectural lighting studio There's Light in collaboration with NEOZ. A hand-blown frosted glass diffuser sits on a turned aged brass base that will continue to patina with use, giving each lamp a surface that evolves with the room around it. The lamp is available exclusively through Tate Modern & NEOZ.

The Design Story

From a fixed installation at Tate Modern to a limited cordless edition

The Corner Light began as architectural lighting. In 2023, the London studio There's Light designed a fixed installation for the Corner Bar at Tate Modern, drawing on a quiet brief of references: 1970s London street lighting, the geometry of the city at night, and the cinematic atmosphere of films like Blade Runner. The result was a small, frosted-glass form that read the room from a single corner of it.

In 2025, There's Light and NEOZ reimagined the piece as a portable, cordless lamp and launched it at the London Design Festival in the same room it was made for. Corner Light is offered in limited numbers, and is the first physical product release from There's Light, a studio founded in 2016 and known for the kind of integrated, cinematic lighting schemes that earn their atmosphere through restraint rather than effect.

Each lamp is built in Sydney by NEOZ and finished individually. The hand-blown glass diffuser holds the warm 1800K LED in a soft, omnidirectional glow. The aged brass base will continue to mellow and patina with handling, so no two lamps will look the same after a year on a table.

Materials & Craftsmanship

Hand-blown glass and a living brass finish

The diffuser is hand-blown from frosted glass, faceted with horizontal ribs that catch and refract the LED into soft horizontal bands of light. Held over the warm 1800K candle-temperature LED, the effect is closer to a glowing object than a lit one. The lamp is omnidirectional by design, with no front or back, so it reads the same from any approach across the room.

The base is turned from solid brass and finished with an aged patina rather than a sealed lacquer. This is a living surface: it will continue to develop with handling, deepening in colour and gathering character over the years. Each lamp ships with a single-lamp N1 Charging Base in custom packaging with mains plugs for worldwide use. Like every NEOZ lamp, the battery, light source and diffuser are user-replaceable, so the lamp can be serviced as it ages rather than retired.
