Cooee

Cooee began in 2013 as a single design from Peter Ellis and Tammy Chiew, drawn around the idea that a cordless lamp should disappear into the room and let the light do the work. The form is reduced to almost nothing: a slim, durable metal column on a small disc base, topped with a diffuser or reflector tailored to the room it sits in. That year, the collection was awarded Gold for Outdoor Lighting and Silver for Urban Sustainable Design at the International Design Awards.

What started as one lamp has become a platform of six. The Cooee 1c, 2c and 3c use metal reflectors for glare-free downlight, well suited to tables near glass where reflection matters. The Cooee 2, 3 and 4 add diffusers that broaden the throw into a soft, ambient glow. The most recent addition, the Cooee 4, was designed by Peter Ellis and Gabriel Tam in 2025 around interchangeable top diffusers, a modular-by-design approach that points forward for the rest of the range.

The lamp is now in service at Mandarin Oriental Luzern, the St. Regis Venice, Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, Ochre in London, Frescohallen in Bergen, and Flame Restaurant and Bar Infinita in Sydney, among many others.
