NEOZ Cordless Lamp Lock Wins 2026 Australian Good Design Award

Good design often solves a practical problem without making a fuss about it. The NEOZ Cordless Lamp Lock takes that approach to hospitality lighting, providing a discreet way to secure cordless lamps without compromising their design or the experience of the space.

Recognised by the 2026 Good Design Awards

The Australian Good Design Awards are Australia's longest-running international design awards program, recognising design across a wide range of disciplines. For the 2026 edition, the NEOZ Cordless Lamp Lock has won in the Product Design, Furniture and Lighting category.

For NEOZ, recognition for the Cordless Lamp Lock is an acknowledgement of an industry-first product that brings a new level of security to cordless hospitality lighting, without compromising its aesthetics or functionality.

The Awards Jury recognised this balance precisely, describing the Cordless Lamp Lock as “a clever and discreet solution to a clearly defined problem within the global hospitality industry.”

The Jury also highlighted the product’s “minimal, low-profile integration”, noting that the locking mechanism is concealed beneath the lamp base so that a secured lamp remains visually indistinguishable from an unsecured one.

That was an important part of the design brief. The goal was not simply to make a cordless lamp more secure, but to solve the problem in a way that feels inherent to the product rather than added onto it.

The locking plate mounts discreetly to the table surface, allowing you to secure your NEOZ cordless lamp with a simple press of a button.

Security, Without the Hardware

Cordless lamps have changed the way hospitality lighting can be used. Without cables tying them to a fixed position, they can move easily between tables, bars, terraces and other areas of a venue.

That flexibility comes with an obvious practical consideration: lamps that are easy to move can also be easy to remove.

Traditional security solutions can introduce visible brackets, tethers or external hardware, adding visual clutter to carefully considered interiors. The NEOZ Cordless Lamp Lock takes a quieter approach.

Its locking mechanism is integrated into the base of the lamp, while a low-profile locking plate fixes discreetly to the table. The lamp locks into place with a simple press and can be released with a dedicated key.

There are no visible cables or bulky fixtures. Just the lamp, doing what it was designed to do.

As the Good Design Awards Jury observed, the approach provides “a valuable level of security for venues while preserving the aesthetic and functional benefits of cordless lighting.”

Designed around the Hospitality Experience

For NEOZ, the challenge was never to simply add security. It was to do so without losing the qualities that make cordless lighting useful in the first place.

“We wanted to create a solution that gives hospitality operators greater confidence and security while remaining virtually invisible within the design of the lamp,” says Jon Hemming, CEO of NEOZ.

The Jury recognised this focus, describing the Cordless Lamp Lock as an innovative response to a “teething problem” that does not compromise the atmosphere or service efficiency created by cordless lighting.

That distinction matters in hospitality. Lighting is part of the atmosphere, and anything introduced to secure a lamp should not become a distraction for guests or staff.

The Jury also recognised the Cordless Lamp Lock as “a great universal accessory for the industry” — reflecting its potential to provide a discreet security solution across hospitality environments while preserving the benefits of cordless lighting.
