NEOZ and the World of Rocco Forte Hotels

Dec 30, 2025Bim Blake

A Rocco Forte hotel begins with its setting. Whether in the heart of London or overlooking the Sicilian coast, each property carries its own architectural rhythm and cultural weight. Much of that identity is shaped by Olga Polizzi,  Director of Design, Deputy Chairman of Rocco Forte Hotels, and one of the most influential figures in European hospitality design. “My inspiration for the design of our hotels always starts with the place. Each of our hotels has its own identity.”

That principle shapes everything, revealing the bare essence of light's role within a room. “Lighting is so hit and miss,” she says. “You need to focus on what’s really necessary.” It is within this design language that NEOZ cordless lamps have found a steady presence across Rocco Forte Hotels.

Together, the venues form a wider narrative of European hospitality: rooted in heritage, open to modernity, and grounded in a deep respect for design that endures.

Soft, ambient lighting from the Albert table lamp enhances The Hotel Savoy’s newly refreshed outdoor veranda, bringing warmth, depth, and atmosphere.

Continental Shift: Spreading Glamour Across Europe

In the UK, the relationship between architectural heritage and atmosphere is immediate. Brown’s Hotel in London, a historic location of Georgian proportions and a sense of discreet luxury, uses light to deepen its warmth. Lighting supports character, rather than signalling itself. Here, the Albert and Victoria lamps introduce a low, intimate glow that settles naturally into the bar, lounges and dining spaces.

Across continental Europe, the architectural language shifts, yet the intent remains constant: spaces that are “glamorous, comfortable, eclectic and memorable", to use Polizzi’s words.

In Florence, Hotel Savoy is situated on Piazza della Repubblica, blending Renaissance context with refined, modern interiors. The Albert Aged Brass lamp responds to this duality, balancing classic and contemporary styles across both the terrace and restaurant spaces.

Florio Restaurant’s light-filled interiors and expansive terrace evoke la dolce vita, with inspiration drawn from the neighbouring Botanical Garden. Elegantly appointed throughout, the space is illuminated by the Ritz Cordless table lamp, creating a warm, inviting ambience.

In Munich, The Charles Hotel brings a different tone with space, botanical views and an elegant Art Deco influence. Within the newly refreshed Florio Restaurant, the Ritz Brass lamp complements the warmth of each table. The same lamp also appears at Verdura Resort in Sicily, where its glow becomes a counterpoint to natural light, adding intimacy in a setting defined by openness.

Across these locations, the lamps vary in scale, finish and form, yet their purpose is consistent: to support atmosphere with clarity and restraint. NEOZ lamps travel well because they are built for context — designed to respond to place rather than impose upon it. That adaptability aligns seamlessly with the Rocco Forte approach, where every hotel begins with its surroundings and evolves into something distinct.
