A new chapter of New York’s layered history is being written at the corner of Wall Street and Water. The Wall Street Hotel offers a striking contrast to its surroundings—elegant but warm, refined yet deeply personal. For Rose Ink Workshop, the design brief was as much about emotion as it was about aesthetics.
Bringing a distinct warmth and intimacy to Manhattan’s Financial District, The Wall Street Hotel balances historical texture with contemporary elegance. We spoke with Liubasha Rose and the team at Rose Ink Workshop to learn more about their design approach, the emotional language of lighting, and why they chose the NEOZ Victoria lamp.

What do you think makes lighting successful in hospitality design?
Successful lighting strikes a balance between creating emotional impact and functionality, guiding guests' experiences while ensuring comfort and usability.
The test is always to make the functional beautiful. It shapes the atmosphere, highlights textures and materials, and subtly guides movement through space. Lighting becomes part of the storytelling.
Were there any early ideas or inspirations that shaped your approach?
We wanted to write a love letter to New York City. We aimed to create a cozy, layered space that captures a moment in time, preserving pieces of the city’s history while weaving together a collective conversation through fabrics, textures, and materials.
To us, that’s what New York truly is: a tapestry of stories, cultures, and memories coming together. That spirit shaped the inspiration and form behind every detail.

How does lighting factor into the way you bring an atmosphere to life?
We treat lighting like a cinematographer would—it sets the mood, tells the story, and makes the whole space feel alive.
Why did you choose the NEOZ Victoria lamp for this location?
The Victoria lamp has a timeless elegance we love — and we gave it a little zing by adding custom black piping to the top and bottom.
